Gary O’Neil hasn’t decided whether he’ll loan out talented 18-year-old Nathan Fraser in this window.
Wolves are intent on bolstering their squad with a new striker to help them in their quest to become more ruthless in front of goal.
In the Premier League this term, Gary O’Neil’s side rank seventh bottom in the division for expected goals scored, as per Understat, and it is clear that more firepower is needed.
With Sasa Kalajdzic and Fabio Silva already departing the club on loan, space has been made available for a new striker.
Several names have been linked, including Getafe’s Borja Mayoral, PSG’s Hugo Ekitike and Servette’s Chris Bedia.
Until a new striker arrives through the door, O’Neil doesn’t want to lose any of his players and that includes those in the youth team.
18-year-old Nathan Fraser is someone that the Wolves boss is reluctant to let go of.
He’s attracting interest from several Football League clubs after impressing in the youth setup, however, a potential loan deal for him is on the back burner until their striker issue is resolved.

Gary O’Neil is yet to decide whether he’ll loan out Nathan Fraser
In an ideal world, Wolves would be able to loan out their youngsters without any repercussions.
But given the situation they are in, they can ill-afford to facilitate any departures until they get someone else through the door.
O’Neil has accepted that he may have to wait to loan out Fraser, who currently has a slight knock, until the end of this month.
Speaking to the Express & Star, he said: “We will do what’s best for Nathan but what happens in the window, with the shortage we have in that area of the pitch, will obviously have a bearing on the decision we make – in terms of whether it’s best for him to go out and get minutes or whether we think there’s an opportunity that he can impact it here,”
“That one will probably be made later in the month.”
Should Wolves loan out Fraser?
Fraser has made steady progression through the Wolves academy and has shown he can handle the demands of senior football.
In the 5-0 thrashing of Blackpool in the Carabao Cup, the talented teenager scored and an assisted.
He showcased his ability to those in attendance against League One opposition and if given the opportunity, he can take the Football League by storm.
It wouldn’t be the end of the world if the 18-year-old wasn’t loaned out in this window, but he looks ready to play first-team football and he will be desperate for Wolves to sign a striker so he can demonstrate his talent elsewhere in the second half of the season.
