Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher agree on how Rob Edwards’ first game as Wolves boss will end up

Rob Edwards’ first game in charge for Wolves is sure to get some attention this weekend, and Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have delivered their verdicts.

It is very important for the new Wolves head coach to get the fans onside quickly, as they have so far endured a miserable season.

Mateus Mane is one player Edwards could start for an easy boost in morale among supporters, but whether he opts to give the youngster his first start of the season remains to be seen.

The young winger and Enzo Gonzalez were in first-team training, so that could be a hint to the two being at least part of his squad.

Either way, getting a result will be huge this weekend, and falling behind even further in the race to survive will not be a great start for Rob Edwards.

However, you do have to sympathise that a first match being against Crystal Palace is not the easiest start, but Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher may surprise a few with their prediction.

Wolves fans, how do you see Rob Edwards getting on in his first game against Crystal Palace?

Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher predict Wolves vs Crystal Palace

Ahead of the return of Premier League football, the Overlap’s Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have been predicting the scores in a select few games this weekend.

Wolves vs Crystal Palace is one of those matches as Rob Edwards sits in the dugout for the first time as a permanent Old Gold head coach.

A win is crucial for the Wanderers, but Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher feel that would be a step too far in his inaugural game in charge.

The punditry duo did give Edwards a result, however, predicting that the game would end in a 1-1 draw.

Jamie Carragher said, “A draw in the manager’s first home game, would he be happy with that?” with Neville responding, “1-1? We’ll go 1-1.”

On the other side of the table, the team of Roy Keane and Ian Wright was not quite as kind, with the latter backing his former club to get a 3-1 win over Wolves.

They join Peter Crouch, who also predicted Rob Edwards to lose his first game in charge.

The Old Gold will need things to fall their way on the day of the game, as a team like Crystal Palace can deal devastating blows even if they are not at the top of their game.

But one piece of data may provide just a glimmer of hope.

Crystal Palace’s two losses this season did come away from home

The Eagles have lost just two games in the Premier League this season, but there could be some hope in that those losses both came away from home.

Crystal Palace travel to Molineux on Saturday, and while Wolves will no doubt be the underdogs, that small bit of optimism could be key.

Wolves also have the historical advantage heading into the match, but Crystal Palace have taken the spoils more frequently in recent times.

Head to head: Wolves and Crystal Palace

Fans will need to be at their loudest, and with the arrival of a new manager, who loves and understands the club, we expect that will not be an issue.

Let’s hope this can be the start of a successful era under Edwards.
