Wolves took another giant step towards Premier League survival on Saturday, beating Ipswich Town 2-1 at Portman Road.
Goals from Pablo Sarabia and Jorgen Strand Larsen handed Wolves a big three points in Suffolk, and Vitor Pereira is now on the brink of achieving the one big objective he was tasked with.
Wolves are 12 points clear of the relegation zone now, with just seven games left to play.
Barring the mother of all capitulations, Wolves will survive and be a Premier League club once again in 2025/26 – and Pereira is now receiving his flowers.
The Portuguese came in in December after Gary O’Neil was sacked and has breathed new life into the club.
There’s now real optimism that Wolves can properly push on with him at the helm, and hopefully he will get some strong backing in the transfer market this summer.
Pereira’s achievements are starting to draw attention, and Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer both spoke about him this weekend.
Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer hail Vitor Pereira and the job he’s done at Wolves

Pereira has now taken 18 games across all competitions as manager of Wolves.
He’s won nine of those, drawn two and lost seven. And in the Premier League he has taken 29 points.
It was an easy job to walk into, with some Wolves players having disciplinary issues, and fans extremely disgruntled.
But the picture now looks so different, and both Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer moved to praise Pereira for his efforts since he came in.
Lineker said: “He’s done a very good job there, Alan.
Shearer – who believes Wolves look better without Matheus Cunha – added: “A very, very good job, yeah. It was tough, I mean, I said earlier didn’t I about that there was never once I thought anyone other than the promoted clubs were going to go down.
“There was a time where Wolves were in trouble and they made the decision to sack the manager and bring Vitor Pereira in and ever since then, he’s really done a fantastic job.
“He’s calmed everything down.”
Lineker added: “I always thought it was unlikely that they’d go down, Wolves. I mean they’ve got a lot of good players in their squad. I think they’ve obviously had their problems and had a really tough start to the season fixtures-wise. And they’ve bounced back really well in the second half of the season.”
Wolves landed on their feet with Vitor Pereira
The appointment of Pereira has turned out extremely well.
It is actually surprising he’s done this well, considering how messy things were when he first came in.
It shouldn’t have worked out. Pereira arrived having had no experience of a top five league in Europe and having jumped from club to club in recent years.

And Wolves were in disarray, with players overly emotional and fans extremely unhappy.
But as Shearer said, Pereira came in and calmed everything down – and immediately healed the dressing room.
He took very little time gaining the respect of the players and the fans, and he certainly deserves huge praise for what he’s done in such a short space of time.
