BBC Sport pundit has praised Jose Sa after the goalkeeper shone against Tottenham Hotspur for Wolves.
The summer signing was again in fine fettle down in north London, making seven saves in total.
Sa needed to be at his brilliant best, especially in the second-half as Spurs tried to get back into the game.
But it was a solid performance from him and the three centre-backs in front of him, as has been the case so often in 2021/22.
The 2-0 result means Sa now has nine clean sheets to his name. He now only needs one more to equal Rui Patricio’s total from last season.
Impressively, no goalkeeper has kept more clean sheets away from home in the Premier League this season than Sa. He now has six shut-outs to his name when not playing at Molineux.
Sa’s fine form has seen some people start to talk about him as one of the signings of the season.
At just shy of £7 million, he has proven to be unbelievable value for money. And it’s even more remarkable given he cost a few million less than the man he replaced Patricio.
Sa has come in for a lot of plaudits for his display against Spurs. Including from Crooks, who felt the 29-year-old ‘was the standout performer yesterday.
He said (BBC Sport): “This was an outstanding defensive display by Wolves at Tottenham.
“The star of the show was Sa. Not only did he keep a clean sheet but he is starting to show the sort of authority in his own penalty area that defenders respect. Sa is one of the few modern goalkeepers who is not afraid to catch the ball in mid-flight.”
Jose Sa continues to impress as Wolves record impressive win Tottenham
Another game, another fantastic showing from Jose Sa in Wolves colours, this time against Tottenham.
Even those that sanctioned his transfer are probably in awe at this point.
Surely nobody could have expected this kind of level in his first season in the Premier League.
We heard good things from those who had watched him in the Greek league with Olympiacos. But he was little-known and would surely going to have some difficulty stepping to as Patricio’s replacement.
But Sa has been just incredible for Wolves. Hopefully he can maintain this consistency right the way through until the end of the season.
