‘Fully committed’: Nedum Onuoha blown away by £3m Wolves star’s rise, after Man City masterclass

Wolves defender Craig Dawson has come in for praise from Nedum Onouha following the club’s amazing win over Manchester City.

Wanderers got three massive points on Saturday at Molineux against the odds.

Pedro Neto forced an own goal from Ruben Dias, before Julian Alvarez equalised for the champions.

Hwang Hee-chan popped up to score the winner though in the second-half, as Wolves carried out Gary O’Neil’s game plan to perfection.

Wolves were not going to get anything from the game if they were not defensively solid.

Fortunately they were, and former City defender Onuoha had some kind words for Dawson…

On Saturday night, Micah Richards said that Dawson was simply ‘fabulous’ against City.

And now another former City defender has praised the 33-year-old in Onouha.

Speaking on a new video for the ESPN FC YouTube channel, he said: “Dawson is from the same place as me. He’s been in the Football League and here he is now. Being fully committed, fully understanding the role. It just goes to show, the guys that play week in week out, they’re very good, you know?

“But we’re very quick to just dismiss them unfortunately. But credit to Wolves.”

Dawson, who signed for Wolves in January from West Ham United for £3 million, put in one of his very best displays against City.

He really did give Erling Haaland nothing at Molineux.

Dawson the colossus

This was perhaps one of the best defensive display by any centre-back in the Premier League so far this season.

The veteran was absolutely amazing against City and kept Haaland – a world-class player 10 years his junior – totally quiet.

He’d not had the best of starts to the new season. And neither had captain Max Kilman.

But both of them were excellent on Saturday, and Wolves can be much more hopeful of getting points on the board if those two can stay consistent.
