Former Wolves manager Bruno Lage on Olympiacos’ radar

Former Wolves manager Bruno Lage is reportedly being considered by Greek giants Olympiacos.

Greek outlet Sport 24 have claimed that the club are continuing their intensive search for the right coach – and Lage is someone on their radar.

Lage has been out of work since getting sacked by Wolves back in October.

The Portuguese oversaw a poor run of results at Molineux at the end of last season, and the form of the team did not pick up in 2022/23.

The 2-0 defeat to West Ham United at the start of October proved to be the last straw for the Wolves board.

The result saw Wolves slip into the relegation zone, and it was felt a change was needed.

Reports suggested that some players had checked out under Lage. Supposedly, some of his methods had started to grate.

Lage could soon be back in management. Apparently, he is on the shortlist for Olympiacos. The club saw Jose Miguel Gonzalez has resign as manager earlier this month. He had succeeded Carlos Corberan, who last just six weeks in the job.

Gennaro Gattuso is thought to be their primary target though.

There is also mention of Sergei Rebrov, Esteban Cambiasso and Marcelino.

Steven Gerrard is also thought to be someone they are looking at (sport-fm).

Earlier this year, there were reports that Brazilian giants Corinthians were considering making a move for Lage.

It would be good to see Bruno Lage get the chance to rebuild his reputation as Olympiacos eye former Wolves boss

So Lage might be back in the management game before long.

It would be good to see him get back into it.

It didn’t work out for him at Wolves, but he worked very intensely at Molineux and really wanted to succeed.

He did some good things, but ultimately he just couldn’t quite get the results.

Perhaps he has taken the time to reflect on why it went wrong and learn from his mistakes.

He is not a bad manager, so hopefully he gets a chance to restore his reputation.
