Former Wolves captain nominated for Manager of the Month after unbeaten start

Life after professional football can look different from player to player, but an ex-Wolves captain hasn’t lost the passion, now coaching a side unbeaten so far this season.

Karl Henry spent seven seasons at Wolves, helping them get promoted back to the Premier League.

Possibly to the midfielder’s displeasure, he might be best remembered for a feud with Joey Barton, where the two had quite public physical and verbal altercations.

But Henry was a great player, and an even better leader. And now, he’s taken that talent to launch a successful career in management.

Karl Henry up for Manager of the Month with Bolmere St Michaels

Henry’s Bolmere St Michaels have had a perfect start to the season in the WNL Division One Midlands, winning all five of their ties so far.

That has them second in the standings as they look to return to national competition.

That has earned the 42-year-old a nomination.

Congratulations to the former Wolves man. This surely won’t be the last we hear of him as a manager.

Henry’s Joey Barton beef

Joey Barton loves a good altercation, and Henry was never one to shy away from a challenge.

The two had a few battles in the Premier League, with Barton taking to social media to speak his mind after a particularly charged encounter on the pitch.

Barton accused Henry of trying to hurt people and went as far as to call him a Sunday League player.

But Henry wasn’t going to let it rise him. He called Barton’s comments embarrassing and suggested it’s the very reason people don’t like him. Mick McCarthy chimed in to defend his player as well.

They don’t make Barclays beef like they used to.
