Former Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo involved in ‘scandalous’ scenes, after Gibbs-White and Coady score

There were some peculiar scenes today at the City Ground, after a game between Nottingham Forest and Leicester City that featured several former Wolves representatives.

Wolves were in action yesterday, losing 2-0 to Brighton at Molineux.

The players will have been licking their wounds today, and possibly analysing what went wrong against the Seagulls.

It’s unclear though if Vitor Pereira had the players in for training at Compton.

If they weren’t though, it is likely some will have caught the game between Forest and Leicester, with Forest hoping to boost their Champions League hopes.

But the game finished a draw, and there were some interesting scenes at the end of the game.

Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis storms pitch to confront Nuno Espirito Santo after Leicester draw

Forest could only manage a 2-2 draw today against already relegated Leicester.

They went 1-0 down, thanks to a goal by none other than former Wolves captain Conor Coady – who was recently serenaded by Wolves fans at Molineux. That was his first for the Foxes since joining them from Wanderers in the summer of 2023.

But another former Wolves player then influenced the game, with Morgan Gibbs-White heading in from a corner.

Forest took the lead when Gibbs-White’s cross was then turned in by striker Chris Wood.

But Forest could not see the game out, and Facundo Buonanotte scored to massively dent Forest’s Champions League hopes.

Then, in very bizarre scenes, Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis actually went onto the pitch and could be seen having a very animated chat with Nuno.

Not a good look as Gary Neville blasts ‘scandalous’ Marinakis

It is not yet clear what Marinakis said to Nuno after today’s game at the City Ground.

But he did not look happy at all, and Nuno looked taken aback by the club’s owner making his way onto the pitch. Many Wolves fans still think very highly of Nuno, and for some this just wasn’t nice to see.

What happens next with this situation will now be fascinating. Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville has gone as far as to urge Nuno to resign as Forest head coach, branding the scenes as ‘scandalous’ on X.

Certainly, it’s not a good look for an owner to enter the field of play, as it can undermine the manager’s authority.

As things currently stand, Forest remain just a point behind Chelsea in fifth, which is a Champions League spot. So all is not lost, although you perhaps wouldn’t know that from Marinakis’ reaction.

Edit: Nuno has since said Marinakis was voicing his confusion about Taiwo Awoniyi, who opted to play through discomfort rather than be substituted for Jota Silva.
