Wolves are yet to win in the Premier League this season however, there’s belief that things are about to get better.
Gary O’Neil’s side are suffering a nightmare start to the 2024/25 calendar, with just one point to their name after six games played.
Added to their struggles in the Premier League, Wolves were knocked out of the EFL Cup, with just one win in all competitions since late April.
It’s a real concern for the Old Gold, who haven’t won in the top flight in their previous nine league duels, with points desperately needed as October awaits.

Wolves told they don’t deserve to be bottom of the Premier League
Sitting bottom of the table and level on points with newly promoted Southampton, O’Neil’s squad are understandably low on confidence.
While looking at the table paints an ugly picture of how the campaign has started at Molineux, there are plenty of positives when the bigger picture is studied.
Speaking on Wolves’ recent defeat to Liverpool, pundit Robbie Mustoe shared a more uplifting take on how the 2024/25 season is looking for the Old Gold.
“Wolves are a tough opponent, they are much better than their table position suggests,” Mustoe said on The 2 Robbies podcast.

“Just by watching them, they’re a good side. They’ve got good energy. They’ve had a nightmare start, they’ve had very difficult teams to play.”
While some supporters will be tired of hearing the line of Wolves’ tough opponents, it’s difficult to ignore that the Midlands club have already faced five of last season’s top seven.
Mustoe’s opinion on Wolves is another subject that is impossible to overlook, with there rarely being an entirely bad performance shown from the squad this term.
Small tweaks will make the difference for Wolves
In four of Wolves’ defeats this season, O’Neil’s side have very much been in the game for large spells of the fixture.
Against Chelsea, the hosts went into the interval level with the Blues, all to lose 6-2 by conceding four in the second half.

Similar circumstances were seen against Newcastle, Aston Villa and Liverpool, where Wolves were either leading or level before losing the match.
Now that six games have been played in the league, O’Neil’s side must tighten up on the frailties that have allowed them to hand the opposition a way into previous games, with there little wrong with the overall performances shown.
Unfortunately, teams are judged by the table and scorelines, leaving Wolves low on confidence despite their arguably encouraging start to the campaign on the pitch.
