Wolves will likely already have eyes on the January transfer window – and one player may well have impressed scouts of the club last night in the Champions League.
Wolves have been heavily criticised for the window they had in the summer.
The club saw a host of players leave, and six new faces arrived. So far, only Ladislav Krejci has really impressed, with the rest still finding their feet.
Wolves tend to shop abroad, believing there is better value to be had signing players who aren’t as well known, as opposed to buying proven stars from other Premier League clubs.
For a while that MO has been successful. But with so many players leaving the club in the last window, it was a huge risk from the club to operate in the same way.
Liam Keen has reported that two positions are on the agenda for Wolves in January – a new midfielder, and either a new winger or a number 10.
Earlier this week, it was claimed that scouts from Wolves would be present at the Champions League game between Galatasaray and Bodo Glimt – and one player may well have caught the eye.
Yunus Akgun shines in front of Wolves scouts

Galatasaray have enjoyed a great start to the 2025/26 season and last night they recorded a big win in the Champions League.
The Super Lig reigning champions and current leaders beat Bodo Glimt 3-1 to make it six points from a possible nine. They now sit 14th in the League Phase table.
There were plenty of good individual performances for Gala, with Victor Osimhen perhaps the star of the show with his two goals.
But there was also a very good display from Yunus Akgun.
Akgun scored Gala’s third goal, finishing after Osimhen won back possession on the edge of Bodo’s box. His initial attempt was saved, but he made no mistake with the follow up.
Akgun completed 95% of his passes according to Sofascore data (18/19), with one of those being ‘key’.
It was just the latest lively showing this season for Akgun, who has four goals and one assist now in 11 appearances.
Interestingly, Turkish outlet Super Haber do reference the fact that Wolves officials were present at the game, along with representatives from several other clubs including Everton, AS Roma, Napoli and Stuttgart.
They suggest that Gala’s ‘star player’ will now be the subject of offers in the January window.
Wolves have been linked with Akgun before
It would be no surprise if Akgun was the player Wolves officials were specifically there to watch last night.
That’s because Wolves have actually been linked with the Turkey international before.
In December, it was claimed that Wolves were planning to make an offer for Akgun in the summer of 2025. Seemingly that offer never came.

But perhaps we might see Wolves look to sign him in January, with creativity obviously a real issue right now.
Wolves would have to free up a non-homegrown player slot in order to sign Akgun.
But Pereira has hinted a winger is on the agenda for Wolves, and perhaps this is a player to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.
