Forgotten star will not be registered in Wolves’ Premier League squad

As the transfer window reaches its end, Gary O’Neil is set to make the final tweaks to his Wolves squad.

While there have been few incomings, the Old Gold side has seen many former loanees return to the club this summer.

While many of these are likely to still leave such as Fabio Silva and Daniel Podence, some could play a part in the squad this season.

Yerson Mosquera has been touted as Max Kilman’s heir after his successful spell in Spain. On top of this, there appears to be a potential route back for Goncalo Guedes after he impressed in pre-season

However, one former first-team player who has been largely forgotten about is Sasa Kalajdzic who isn’t likely to play for O’Neil’s side anytime soon.

Kalajdzic was sent out on loan in January after struggling to get regular minutes. Joining Frankfurt until the end of the season, he had a good start in Germany until another injury ended his campaign.

The striker once again suffered an ACL tear, his third time in five years.

Now back at Wolves, there has been a lot of speculation on when he could return to the pitch. However, Liam Keen has now confirmed that Kalajdzic will be out of action until the winter and will not be registered in the Premier League squad as a result.

“His return to training is set to be around December/January time, and that depends on how the next few months go,” he said.

“I have gone and double-checked and unfortunately Sky Sports Australia are not quite on the ball with this one. He won’t be back in training until the winter time, which means he won’t be registered with the squad for the first half of the season.

“Obviously, they can make changes to that in January but for the time being he won’t be registered in the squad because he won’t be able to play.”

Wolves should look to part ways with Sasa Kalajdzic in January

As much as it is clear that Kalajdzic has the ability to be a good footballer, the striker consistently struggles to stay fit.

Since he signed for Wolves two years ago, he has only made a combined 20 appearances for both the Old Gold and Frankfurt.

On top of this, O’Neil clearly does not feel that the Austrian suits his style of play, hence his lack of minutes last season.

Once he regains fitness in January, Wolves should actively look to sell the striker and try and make some of their money back on the failed transfer.
