‘Forced’: Gary O’Neil worryingly explains what happened with 27-year-old Wolves star yesterday

Wolves recorded their first win of the new season yesterday against Everton – but there was one sour note with Hwang Hee-chan having sustained an injury.

Wolves are off the mark now after losing their first two games.

Sasa Kalajdzic’s late header was the difference between the two teams at Goodison Park.

Wanderers had Jose Sa to thank for an inspired performance that kept the team in the game before Kalajdzic struck.

It was a brilliant moment for the striker, who suffered an ACL injury on his debut last season.

But one negative of the day came to light after the game, with Gary O’Neil confirming Hwang suffered a hamstring injury…

But it turns out that Hwang was actually struggling with an injury.

O’Neil said after the game that the South Korea international has an issue with his hamstring.

He said (The Athletic): “Hwang felt his hamstring in the first half so we were forced into that one.

“With Matheus unavailable with suspension we didn’t have too many options to play off that left side.

“I thought Rayan would be able to do it for us and he has really good attacking attributes.

“I thought he filled in well.”

Concerning news over Hwang

It was perhaps inevitable that Wolves’ win yesterday would have one negative aspect to it.

Fans will now patiently wait for an update on Hwang, who has been one of Wolves’ brightest players in these first few weeks of the new season.

It is a frustrating situation.

Hwang is a great player. But his explosiveness does seemingly make him susceptible to muscle injuries – especially his hamstrings.

Since coming to the club, has now suffered three hamstring injuries.

Hopefully this latest one isn’t going to be too serious.
