Fer Lopez became Wolves’ first signing of the 2025 summer transfer window, and the Spaniard is already noticing something impressive at Molineux.
Wolves paid £19.5 million for Lopez to land the attacking midfielder from Celta Vigo, something that left supporters of the Spanish side annoyed.
The 21-year-old has since spent the start of pre-season settling into his new surroundings, with Jorgen Strand Larsen being one familiar face from his time at Celta.
Lopez made his Wolves debut against CD Santa Clara on Tuesday, and journalist Liam Keen was impressed by his link-up play with Strand Larsen, despite Vitor Pereira’s men losing 2-1 against the Liga Portugal outfit.
Encouragingly, the youngster is already fitting well into Pereira’s ethos at Wolves, noticing one key difference to his teammates at Molineux compared to his former peers.

Fer Lopez wowed by the physicality of the Wolves squad compared to Celta Vigo
Standing at 6ft 2ins, Lopez has been compared to Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham due to his stride length and style of dribbling.
The left-footed playmaker also boasts the physicality required to excel in the Premier League, something he’s noticed is a common theme among his Wolves teammates.
In an interview with the E&S, Lopez pointed out that the players in Pereira’s squad are much taller and more physical than the ones he was playing with at Celta Vigo.
“Everyone here is stronger, taller. In Spain, I was like top three, maybe, tallest guys in the team. Here, I think I’m not even top five.
“They are so big and so strong, but I think I will catch up to that. I just need a little bit of time, like everyone that comes to a new surrounding, a new environment. That’s for me the main difference between Spain and here.”
The Premier League has always been known for having the physical edge over teams in La Liga, with Lopez hoping to hit the ground running in England’s top flight.

Lopez has made a promise to Wolves fans
Technically, Lopez looks like an excellent player, arguably similar to Pablo Sarabia with his languid style and wand of a left foot.
What’s more, the Spaniard speaks like he’s an experienced player, despite only making 20 senior appearances for Celta Vigo.
Ahead of the new campaign kicking off against Manchester City on August 16, Lopez has already promised Wolves fans a ‘great’ season.
“We are going to do a great season for them because it’s very hard for hard-working people to pay the tickets, and we want to show the people that we play with pride, that the badge is the most important thing and that we are going to do a great season,” he added.
Wolves finished 16th in 2024/25, but with a strong summer transfer window, they will be aiming for much higher in the following.
