Fer Lopez makes exciting promise to Wolves fans ahead of Manchester City opener

Spanish forward Fer Lopez shares his thoughts as he prepares for a Premier League debut with Wolves.

One of three new faces at Molineux this summer, Fer Lopez can’t wait to make an impact for his new team.

Lopez has big ambitions for his Wolves career. The 21-year-old comes across as quite mature for his age, but still possesses the hunger of a youngster starting his career.

With just a few days to go before facing Manchester City, Lopez has revealed what he’s aiming for this campaign and how he will fit into Vitor Pereira’s side.

Fer Lopez aims to get Wolves fans off their seats

Lopez has already impressed Pereira with his ‘magic’, and he hopes to get a similar reaction from the supporters when he takes the field.

In an interview for Wolves’ website, he reveals: “For me, football is entertainment. I like players who take me off my seat, and that’s what I will try to do to the Wolves fans. But obviously the main goal is to score goals, create chances for the team and to win games.”

Wolves fans will be familiar with the kind of magic Lopez is referring to, having had a front-row seat for Matheus Cunha’s ascension last season, which included many jaw-dropping moments.

If even a fraction of that excitement can be delivered by the Spaniard this campaign, he’ll quickly become a fan favourite.

Fer Lopez gives insight into his role in the Wolves team

When asked about his role, Lopez seemed quite pleased with how the manager has been using him so far. He says: “At Celta, we played three-four-three and we play a similar system here, and I would start on the right, but I like to drift more central.

“Even though I started off the right, I wouldn’t consider myself as a right winger, more of an attacking midfielder, so it was a very similar position in a very similar system to what I’m playing here, so I’m very happy with my role here.”

Though he will be competing with Marshall Munetsi, Lopez seems confident he can make an impact from the right-sided attacking position. We have seen glimpses of his quick feet and clever link-up in pre-season, but fans will be desperate to see more of what their new signing can do.

Whether he starts on Saturday or comes off the bench, the excitement for Lopez’s competitive debut will be palpable.
