Fer Lopez and Rodrigo Gomes apologise to Wolves fans after Leeds defeat

Wolves have endured a terrible start to the new season, and are still pointless in the Premier League.

Wanderers remain rooted to the bottom of the table, and have just lost for the fifth straight match.

Wolves fell short against Leeds United this weekend, putting in their most concerning performance to date.

It was seen as a real opportunity for points, with Leeds expected to be a relegation rival for Wolves come the end of the season.

But after starting positively, taking the lead through Ladislav Krejci, Leeds hit back with three goals thanks to some atrocious defending from Wolves.

There were boos at half-time and after the game, indicating that the mood is very low at the moment.

It simply has not been good enough from Wolves, and two players have actually now come out and apologised for the current situation.

Wanderers are in real trouble at the moment, although Pereira is confident he can turn things around at Wolves.

It’s five defeats in a row, and the squad is much weaker than it was last season thanks to some very questionable recruitment.

Worryingly, the three teams that have come up have all got points on the board already, suggesting the challenge will be stronger this season.

Saturday’s performance really was abject from Wolves.

And a couple of players have now taken to Instagram to actually apologise to the supporters.

Fer Lopez wrote on his Story: “Just wanted to say sorry to the fans 🙏 Better ties will come 🧡🐺”

Rodrigo Gomes also said: “Sorry for this beginning. We’ll face this situation together and work harder to change it, always together 🐺💛”

A lot of Wolves fans will probably disregard these apologies, as many want to see evidence of change.

But at least the words are coming from two players who can actually hold their heads up higher than the rest.

Lopez arrived at Wolves for £19 million from Celta Vigo in the summer and, while you can see he is raw, he has something about him and has had some promising outings.

Rodrigo has also had a lively start, and you can see he genuinely tries so hard every time he steps out on to the pitch.

More than anything though, Wolves fans just want to see some improvements now.
