Alan Shearer has hailed Craig Dawson for his performance against Manchester City last weekend, and the way he completely nullified Erling Haaland.
The veteran defender was at his very best at Molineux, as Wolves ran out 2-1 winners.
Wanderers handed City their first Premier League defeat of the season.
And the praise has been plentiful for Dawson, who was rock-solid at the back, along with Max Kilman and Toti Gomes.
Dawson was branded ‘fantastic’ by Micah Richards in the aftermath of the game.
It was definitely one of his best games in a Wolves shirt.
And his efforts secured him a place in Shearer’s latest Premier League Team of the Week…
Alan Shearer points out something very impressive about Craig Dawson
Dawson was just a colossus on Saturday.
The £45,000-a-week star just seemed to be in all the right places, and no one could get past him.
One man who had particular difficulty was Erling Haaland, who spent the game attempting to get the better of the man 10 years his senior.
But Dawson gave him nothing. And even Haaland himself acknowledged his nemesis in the game.
And Shearer noted that this was an extremely rare occasion that Haaland actually had zero influence for City.
He said (Premier League): “Faultless display. Not many defenders have managed to keep Haaland quiet, but he did with a brilliant performance.”
Dawson succeeded where so many have failed
It was amazing to see Dawson completely nullify Haaland.
We have seen how the Norwegian has absolutely bullied defenders since he came to England.
And he’s obviously scored a bucket-load of goals, including four against Wolves last season across two games.

Very few centre-halves have managed to keep him quiet.
Antonio Rudiger’s display for Real Madrid in the first-half of the Champions League semi-final last season springs to mind.
But Dawson is definitely now part of a very exclusive club.
