Fans really miss Nuno Espirito Santo signing after what Wolves just posted

Wolves fans have been showing their appreciation for a former player, following a post by the club yesterday.

It is safe to say that the mood around Wolves right now is not particularly good.

The club are without a point in the Premier League from their first three games, and ended the transfer window in poor fashion, failing to sign a new midfielder.

There has been more anger directed towards Fosun, with the feeling being that their support of Wolves in recent years just hasn’t been good enough.

Many miss the good times.

When Wolves got back into the Premier League in 2018, there was such a positive vibe.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side were a fearsome prospect for any team in the division, and he managed a team the fans were proud of.

There were so many talented players, and yesterday, fans were talking up Joao Moutinho on social media.

Moutinho came to Wolves in the summer of 2018, ready to help the club in their first season back in the Premier League.

He was a big name, but some didn’t expect too much given his age and low transfer fee of just £5 million.

But Moutinho quickly showed that he was a total bargain, wowing fans with his technical ability and intelligence in midfield.

He made the game look easy at times, and went on to become a firm favourite with the fans.

He left in 2023 after a five-year stint and yesterday the former Wolves man turned 39 – prompting the club to post a couple of times about him on social media.

And that gave fans a chance to show their appreciation.

@oldgoldpack: “5ft 7 of football heaven… Still can’t quite believe we were lucky enough to watch this gentleman play for our club. Happy Birthday @JoaoMoutinho!”

@Rob_wwfc: “Still can’t believe this Legend played for our club.”

Moutinho was a privilege to watch

It was nice to see many Wolves fans paying tribute to Moutinho yesterday, as he is undoubtedly one of the best players to pull on the old gold shirt.

Moutinho ended up totally thriving in English football, especially in those first couple of seasons when he played a crucial role in helping Wolves to finish seven twice in a row.

The star just oozed class in Wolves’ midfield, and there is no doubt he had a huge influence on Ruben Neves, helping his compatriot to become the top player he is today.

Moutinho’s durability was also an extremely underrated quality.

He was always available and never let the team down, and was also amazing in terms of bringing leadership and professionalism.
