Wolves fans around the globe have once again directed their anger to VAR after another decision went against Gary O’Neil’s side.
It was a tough afternoon for Wolves at Molineux. After breezing through the first half, the Old Gold threw away their 1-0 lead to go 2-1 down late on.
It seemed as if all hope was lost and their season was coming to an abrupt end. This was until captain Max Kilman popped up in the 99th minute to seemingly secure a late point for the hosts.
However, any hopes for a draw were soon dashed as VAR rose its ugly head yet again.
They advised Tony Harrington to go to the monitor to review an obstruction on Lukasz Fabianski by Twanda Chirewa. This was deemed by the officials to be offside due to the youngster’s position in front of the ‘keeper, ruling out the late equaliser.
This enraged Molineux and Gary O’Neil as VAR once again seemed to wrongfully deny Wolves another point late in the day.
The manager was particularly displeased with the decision which he made clear in his post-match interview. However, the fans made sure they had their say as they took to social media to express their anger.

VAR ‘ends Wolves’ season’

This game was crucial for Wolves for many reasons. After losing their way in previous games, they had a chance to renew their European hopes as they hosted fellow hopefuls West Ham.
A win was desired, however, a point would have more than kept Wolves in the race.
VAR had already cost Wolves multiple times this season and the club should arguably already be sitting in a European spot.
Yet, after another defeat with stakes being so high, fans are now blaming VAR for ending any hopes of Europe the club still had.
Time for VAR to go

While many will say VAR is here to stay, at the time of writing, there are few match-going fans who are happy with its inclusion.
The introduction of VAR to begin with was always a controversial one. Many fans were concerned that it would ruin the matchday experience and in its nearly five-year stay, it has somehow gotten worse.
On top of its long delays and fans having little understanding of what is happening, the worst thing is, the officials still get it wrong.
How anyone can believe that Chirewa was obstructing the ‘keeper there is laughable. It was an unsavable header but VAR has once again cost Wolves due to its incompetence.
Even when the decision might go for Wolves, fans are not happy. This was best seen against Coventry when an insanely long check was made for their opener. Yet, despite VAR’s invention potentially being in Wolves’ favour, chants of ‘boring’ echoed throughout Molineux.
Now, after VAR has wrong Wolves again, there seems to be no way back for the system. The question the Premier League now needs to ask itself is, how wants VAR to stay?
