Raul Jimenez was the headline-maker for Mexico last night as his penalty secured a 1-0 victory for El Tri over the Netherlands in a friendly at the Amsterdam Arena.

TheNorth Americans emerged victorious in what was a fairly even game that saw few clear-cut chances.

Mexico’s penalty came about on the hour mark, when new Manchester City signing Nathan Ake was adjudged to have pulled Jimenez down in the area.

The Molineux star dusted himself down and converted the resulting spot-kick.

It was a good all-round showing from Jimenez, who was somewhat off-colour in Wolves’ last game against Fulham.

One man who also caught the eye of the night was winger Jesus Corona, who was actually linked with a move to Wolves last month (A Bola).

The 27-year-old started to the right of Jimenez in a three-pronged attack, and was something of a menace with his speed and ball retention.

He gave young Owen Wijndal the runaround, and almost scored a sensational solo goal in the 74th minute but for a good save from Tim Krul.

His performance was hailed on social media by neutral supporters watching the game:
