Matija Sarkic has come in for some early plaudits at Birmingham City.

The Wolves goalkeeper is spending the season on loan at St. Andrews.

The 24-year-old made his second competitive appearance for the Blues against Stoke City.

The game ended 0-0, meaning Sarkic has now kept clean sheets in both his competitive outings so far.

Against the Potters, he made a couple of saves from inside the area.

It was the performance he needed, having had a couple of errors in pre-season.

At the moment, Sarkic is covering for Neil Etheridge, who was recently hospitalised after testing positive for Covid-19.

The star is due to return to the fold next month, meaning Sarkic gets an early chance to impress for the Midlands outfit (via Birmingham Mail).

He’ll hope to give Lee Bowyer a reason not to drop him.

Earlier this year, Sarkic talked about his desire to eventually become Wolves’ number one back at Molineux.

He’ll therefore be hoping to play as much as possible in order to realise that ambition sooner rather than later.
