Fans have showered praise on Daniel Podence, who produced a fine performance against Arsenal for Wolves on Sunday night.

The winger was one of the key players in the 2-1 win at the Emirates Stadium, a result that has lifted the club up to sixth in the Premier League table.

Wolves could have been forgiven for dropping points in north London; the sickening head injury to Raul Jimenez early on would no doubt have really concerned the players.

The Mexican – who was taken to hospital immediately – is said to be conscious and responding to treatment.

Wolves were also set up with four at the back, with the returning Conor Coady partnering Willy Boly for the first time.

All things considered, this was a fantastic performance and result, and arguably it was Podence’s best showing of the season.

He was a constant threat before his exit as a substitute on 68 minutes, which did actually lead to some worrying Arsenal pressure late on, and his goal was tremendously taken; scooping the ball over a lunging Gabriel and finishing low into the corner.

The £60,000-a-week star (Spotrac) was a major thorn in the Gunners’ side and is getting better with every passing weekend.

On social media, fans couldn’t get enough of the 25-year-old:
