England were agonisingly beaten in the final of Euro 2020 on penalties by Italy last night, and fans noticed something brilliant that Wolves captain Conor Coady did.
The Three Lions gave it their all, but ultimately came up just short at Wembley.
They made the perfect start with Luke Shaw volleying home Kieran Trippier’s cross inside two minutes.
But Italy hit back with a scrappy goal from Leonardo Bonucci in the second-half.
Unfortunately, the second-half performance was as poor as the first-half performance was great.
The two defences stood firm and a penalty shootout eventually ensued.
There was heartbreak for Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, before Bukayo Saka then stepped up.
The Arsenal man had to convert to keep it going, but Gianluigi Donnarumma made the save.
A horrible moment for the youngster, who has had a brilliant tournament.
What was brilliant to see though, was Wolves star Conor Coady rush over as one of the first ones to console the 19-year-old.
He may not have played a minute at the tournament, but the 28-year-old has been a credit to his club.
On social media, fans ensured to praise Coady for yet more brilliant leadership, this time in the face of true heartache:
Want to see a leader…..Connor Coady looking after saka after his miss, that is class.

Watching this video back is so tough, but then also watching the way Coady and Southgate console Saka is so heartwarming. This team of players and staff have done such great things on and off the pitch and should be so proud https://t.co/TDdpNYvB1S

If we (@Wolves) can take anything from tonight is Conor Coady. What a star, he was the first to console Saka when he missed the penalty….
