Wolves have slipped to defeat in the Premier League, losing 2-1 to Burnley at Turf Moor.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side could not follow up their brilliant victory over Chelsea last week, and missed the chance to go eighth in the table, at least temporarily.

It was a performance that Wolves fans have seen several times already this season.

There was a real lack of incision and inventiveness from the visitors, and once Burnley got their opening goal through Ashley Barnes, it was always going to be difficult.

When the Clarets scored again the second half through Chris Wood, there was never going to be a comeback, with Sean Dyche’s side happy to defend for their lives – something they do so well.

 

Fabio Silva did give the visitors hope by winning and then converting a penalty for his first goal for the first-team, but there was to be no equaliser – and one wouldn’t have been deserved.

It was another frustrating display from Wolves, who just can’t seem to build any kind of momentum this term.

There was perhaps one bright spark – young Owen Otasowie did fairly well on his first Premier League start, despite having to play an unfamiliar false nine role, which in hindsight was a bizarre call.

Nuno took him off on the hour mark, and the management of the youngster has been questioned by some fans on social media:
