Fabrizio Romano shares how Erik ten Hag feels about the Wolves job after holding talks

Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the Erik ten Hag to Wolves links after being approached.

Wolves’ quest to replace Vitor Pereira has seen them show interest in the former Man United head coach.

Rob Edwards is the frontrunner to take the role, but Wolves are wary of putting all of their eggs in the Middlesbrough man’s basket. After not showing up to training or to face the media, many think Edwards is Wolves bound, but nothing has been confirmed.

As for ten Hag, his stance on a possible move to Molineux has been laid out by Fabrizio Romano.

Fabrizio Romano’s Erik ten Hag claim after talks are held

Romano appeared on a Q&A livestream for GiveMeSport, where one of the topics brought up was Wolves and their efforts to open negotiations with ten Hag.

The Dutchman has been out of a job since parting ways with Bayer Leverkusen earlier in the campaign.

As Romano reveals: “Edwards remains the leading candidate, with Erik ten Hag there were some conversations with his agents earlier this week, but nothing more.

“Ten Hag is not convinced about the opportunity. I think there will be more conversations in the next 24 to 48 hours.”

By the sounds of it, he doesn’t want his return to the Premier League to come in the form of a relegation scrap. Ten Hag has met with Ajax as well, and that may be a more appealing proposition, but the door hasn’t been fully closed on a move to Molineux.

Ten Hag not the man Wolves need

While at Old Trafford, ten Hag enjoyed mixed success. He won cups in back-to-back seasons but was inconsistent at times in the league.

And that’s where the issue lies.

Wolves don’t need to be playing attractive football under their new manager. They need to be grinding out results.

With each passing week, the need for points becomes more and more dire. Ten Hag doesn’t seem like the survival-based choice.

It’s looking like James Collins will be in charge against Chelsea as the search continues. Romano reckons another approach for ten Hag could be made in the meantime, but as we have covered, Edwards is the heavy favourite for Wolves boss.
