Fabio Silva sends ironic message to Goncalo Guedes after leaving Wolves

Goncalo Guedes’ time at Wolves is over after the winger completed a permanent transfer to Real Sociedad.

Wolves fans don’t believe Guedes was ever happy at Molineux, which, when looking back at his career in the West Midlands, is a fair assessment.

Just six months after he arrived at Wolves in 2022, the Portuguese forward departed to join Benfica on loan, triggering a series of spells away from the club.

Gary O’Neil surprised many by integrating Guedes into his squad last season, but quickly, it became clear that the same issues were returning, leading to his permanent exit this summer.

Fabio Silva reacts to Goncalo Guedes’ transfer

Guedes signed for Real Sociedad to begin the next chapter of his career, a move that, despite being unsurprising, came largely out of nowhere.

After being unveiled by his new club, Fabio Silva reacted to his former teammate’s move, sending an eight-word message to Guedes on social media.

Posting on his Instagram story, Silva said, “Come on, brother!! May you be very happy.”

Silva, who is also set to leave Wolves this summer, wished his countryman well, but the message could be analysed in a different way.

Pereira suggested that Guedes was unhappy at Wolves, admitting that, despite liking the player, he was aware of the winger’s ‘ambition’ to leave the West Midlands.

The acknowledgement of Guedes’ lack of happiness at Wolves gives Silva’s message an alternative meaning, wishing for the 28-year-old to seek what he never had at Molineux.

Silva’s message to Guedes is ironic

Pereira dropped Guedes due to his mentality, publicly questioning whether the forward had the ‘right spirit’ to offer anything to Wolves.

It’s been well documented that the former Paris Saint-Germain attacker has been seeking something other than Wolves for some time.

Now, the 2022 signing has just that, returning to Spain to attempt to get his career back on track after a terrible spell in the West Midlands.

Part of Wolves will be glad to see the back of Guedes, who, as well as having a poor attitude, was boasting the club’s highest wage packet.
