In the 2025 summer transfer window, Fabio Silva finally left Wolves – and last night the striker enjoyed his best moment so far for Borussia Dortmund.
Fabio Silva signed for Wolves back in the summer of 2020 from FC Porto, becoming the club’s record signing at the time for just over £35 million.
It was a huge fee to pay and unfortunately, Silva never lived up to his billing.
He was thrust into the starting XI following the head injury to Raul Jimenez, and it was clear that Silva was too raw at the time.
A few loan spells would then follow for Silva, who had been keen to leave Wolves for a while before finally doing so in the 2025 summer window.
Silva completed a move to Borussia Dortmund – and last night, he opened his account for the Bundesliga giants.
Fabio Silva is now a Champions League goalscorer after Wolves nightmare

Silva’s progress at Dortmund will be of great intrigue to some Wolves fans.
During his time as a Wolves player, some always felt there was a player there – it was just a case of him perhaps making his move to Molineux far too early.
He had a really good loan spell at Las Palmas last season, scoring 10 goals in La Liga.
And he also did fairly well at Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven.
Silva will certainly hope that his move to Dortmund will be the making of him – and last night, he finally opened his account for his new club.
Dortmund took on Copenhagen last night in the Champions League and won the game 4-2, with Silva scoring his side’s fourth goal.
And Silva took it very well, finishing low and clinically from a tight angle on the volley after the ball had popped up high.
This was Silva’s second appearance in the competition, after he came on as a late substitute for Dortmund in their previous League Phase match against Athletic Bilbao.
What Fabio Silva said after scoring first Borussia Dortmund goal
So Silva is off the mark for Dortmund, and he’ll now look to break into the starting XI.
It has been a bit of a slow start for Silva, after he arrived at the club carrying an injury which he sustained while on loan at Las Palmas.
It meant that Silva did not feature in any of Wolves’ pre-season games, or any competitive matches before his departure from Molineux.
After last night’s game, the humble Silva took a moment to thank those that have helped him get back to fitness.
He said (via BVB official website): My teammates, all the lads who have worked with me in the gym since my injury, have done a lot to help me. Now I feel 100% fit again. Many thanks to everyone who has worked with me. Thanks to the coach. I always try to use my energy and help my teammates to create chances. I’m very happy about this goal.”
We now wait to see how Silva – who Wolves have a sell-on clause on – gets on, and it would probably come as no surprise if he was a success.
It is not uncommon for players who didn’t make an impact at Wolves to flourish elsewhere, with Pedro Goncalves and Vitinha good examples.
