Fabio Silva makes honest admission to Wolves fans after joining Borussia Dortmund

One of the longest transfer sagas at Wolves this summer has finally come to an end.

Fabio Silva is joining Borussia Dortmund.

It’s difficult to say Silva’s time at Wolves was a success. He arrived as an 18-year-old wonderkid from Porto for £35 million and was seen as Portugal’s next number nine.

Fast-forward to today, and it’s fair to say he hasn’t lived up to those expectations. Now, he’s moving on, but not before giving one last message to the Wolves support.

Fabio Silva sends candid message to Wolves fans on Instagram

As is the done thing nowadays, Silva’s last words to Wolves fans before moving to Dortmund came on Instagram.

His message is honest and heartfelt, acknowledging that he didn’t live up to expectations in his time at Molineux, but expressing total gratitude to the club and the people who support it.

Silva was always going to leave this summer, but credit to him for showing such maturity and respect, still just 23 years old.

His name will be remembered more fondly for it, and for the fact that Wolves are set to receive £23 million for his sale.

The striker spot is looking very bare for Wolves

Knock on wood, Jorgen Strand Larsen looks set to stay at Wolves after a long week of links away. Of course, there’s still time for that to change.

But assuming Vitor Pereira can hold onto his star striker, Wolves are still not well-equipped to deal with the twists and turns of a Premier League season.

Hwang Hee-chan may also leave before the deadline, and even Sasa Kalajdzic has been mentioned as a potential mover.

Wolves need to sign another forward (or two) in the coming days, to ensure they can get goals from more than just one reliable source.
