Wolves striker Fabio Silva left the pitch in tears last night, after picking up an injury for the Portugal U21s.
The striker only lasted the opening stages of the friendly match against Japan.
The youngster was running through on goal to try and get on the end of a ball over the top.
The ball was gathered by the goalkeeper, and Silva then went down as he tried to beat him to it.
The 20-year-old tried to play on, but then could not continue any further. He left the action after just six minutes.
Wolves, and also Anderlecht, will now anxiously await news on Silva.
Him going off in tears was a real concern.
Silva has been enjoying a fairly productive campaign so far in 2022/23.
For Anderlecht, he has made 28 appearances and scored 10 goals. He’s also laid on four assists for teammates.
Wolves officials decided that a loan move would be best for him this season, after struggling to get minutes in his first two seasons at Molineux.
Silva signed for Wolves for £35.6 million in the summer of 2020. Arguably, Wolves overpaid considerably, but he still has clear potential.
Regular game time is what he needs, and he was getting that in Belgium. But it looks as though he may now face a spell on the sidelines.
Worrying times for Fabio Silva, but Wolves youngster assures fans he’s OK on Instagram
Hopefully this isn’t something too serious, because Silva has actually posted on Instagram after last night’s game.
He said: “Thanks for the messages!! I’m fine and ready to play.”
A bad injury would be the last thing needs. He has been doing well over in Belgium and most importantly, has been playing regularly.
He’s been developing nicely, so picking up a serious injury would be a hammer blow for Wolves.
Thankfully, it does not seem that he’s done anything too damaging.
Perhaps it was just the initial shock and he feared he’s done something to jeopardise his season.
