Expert names ‘underappreciated’ player who could be Wolves’ Rodri under new manager Vitor Pereira

Vitor Pereira is fortunate to have a group of top-quality players at Wolves, with some standing out more than others.

Pereira was hired to guide Wolves away from the relegation zone, something the new manager did early into his reign.

Taking over from Gary O’Neil, Pereira wasted no time writing his name into Wolves history, being unbeaten in his opening three Premier League fixtures.

A defeat to Nottingham Forest ended the Portuguese’s run but, his arrival certainly fuelled some inspiration within the talented Wolves squad.

Liam Keen likens Andre’s role to Manchester City star Rodri

The quality of the Wolves squad has been praised this season, with the individual calibre being the reason that many believe the Old Gold will avoid relegation.

For all of O’Neil’s faults, the former manager did hand Pereira a worthy parting gift before leaving his role, signing Andre in a deadline day transfer from Fluminense.

The Brazilian’s arrival saw another top-class player enter the squad and now, Pereira is reaping the benefits of the midfielder’s transfer.

Reflecting on Wolves’ FA Cup win against Bristol City, journalist Liam Keen applauded Andre’s performance, calling for more appreciation for the 23-year-old.

The Wolves expert formed a comparison between the Brazil international and Ballon d’Or winner Rodri, praising the work that defensive midfielders do in today’s game.

“You look at Rodri before his injury, getting his plaudits for a role that for quite a few years was underappreciated,” Keen said on The Keen & Judah Show

“I think Andre deserves a bit of that really. He deserves that credit.”

The reporter went on to identify the underappreciated actions Andre frequently does for Wolves, expressing his satisfaction over Pereira’s midfielder.

“Andre breaks the play up so well, he covers ground brilliantly, he’s great in the tackle, he’s strong, it’s pretty clear that he and Joao Gomes are the starting two under Vitor Pereira.”

Wolves struck gold by signing Andre

Not many would assume that Andre has had a difficult start to life at Wolves but that’s the reality for the player.

The Brazilian expressed the difficulty in balancing his personal life in Brazil, leaving his young family behind, to join Wolves in the summer.

On the pitch, Andre looks unfazed, being a player of pure quality who does what is needed to great effect.

Andre has impressed since arriving at Wolves and at only 23, there’s both a lot more to come from the ex-Fluminense star and, the potential for a hefty profit for the Old Gold in the future.
