Exit-linked Wolves player makes cryptic post on Instagram, after ominous O’Neil comments

A lot of the talk right now is about Matheus Nunes – but Daniel Podence is another player who looks like he could be leaving Wolves in the coming days.

The winger has not played for Wanderers as yet this season.

The 27-year-old was not with the squad for pre-season, amid speculation he could be departing the club.

Recently, Gary O’Neil said that Wolves were managing the situation, and that he wanted to focus on players currently in the squad.

O’Neil then admitted that Podence does not share Wolves’ goals. He said (via Express & Star): “At the moment the squad’s ambition and where we’re trying to get to and Daniel’s aren’t aligned.

“So at this moment it’s best we focus on our own goals. Also Daniel isn’t part of that at this moment but that doesn’t mean he won’t be here come the end of the window.”

And he made another one on Sunday.

He uploaded a photo of himself in a gym, and featured the caption: “Não sorria porque acabou, sorria porque aconteceu’, which translates to ‘Don’t smile because it’s over, smile because it happened’.

It is worth pointing out that Podence has also tagged Nike.

Maybe it could be that the Portuguese is no longer working with the brand.

Latest Podence message is curious timing

There might be nothing in this from Podence. The tagging of Nike does make it somewhat ambiguous.

But it is definitely interesting timing, with O’Neil having admitted that the club and the player were essentially on different wavelengths just a couple of days before.

It will be interesting to see what happens now with Podence.

It’s pretty clear at this point that he is wanting out of Molineux. Given everything that has been said and written.

But Wolves can only make that happen if a suitable bid arrives.

That said, the club may be forced to accept lower than they would like, just to get an unhappy player out of the picture.
