Wolves are reportedly going to announce that defender Max Kilman has signed a new contract at Molineux, after a chaotic past week at the club.

It has been a whirlwind week for Wanderers, with Julen Lopetegui quitting as head coach on Tuesday.

Gary O’Neil was announced as his successor in Wednesday, and took his first training session on Thursday.

O’Neil was the outstanding candidate for Wolves officials, with Matt Hobbs having conducted the search which is believed to have lasted around 10 days.

O’Neil is now trying to get things in order, before Wolves face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday.

Wolves fans will feel they are probably due a bit of good news after the events of this summer.

The 26-year-old defender had been linked with an exit from the club in recent weeks, with Napoli especially keen.

But apparently, he will now sign on the dotted line for Wolves.

He has never displayed any intention of wanting to leave, the publication say, and an official announcement for the new contract is expected this coming week.

Apparently, it is a five-year deal that he will sign.

There is no word on whether that contract will include any kind of clause that will let him leave for a certain amount should Wolves be relegated this season.

Kilman contract claim is a brilliant news

Wolves fans will be delighted Kilman is signing a new contract.

He has been a brilliant player for the club over the past couple of years, and it’s fantastic to see him become the new club captain.

O’Neil is already very taken by him, and he is going to be so important this season following a summer of huge change.

He’s got big shoes to fill after the departures of Conor Coady and Ruben Neves.

But many Wolves fans will no doubt back him to thrive.
