Exclusive: Wolves tipped to loan out ‘unpredictable’ talent using familiar club link

Wolves should utilise their Portuguese connection to develop the talent of Enso Gonzalez in what could be a strong move for the teenager, as per the belief of Paraguayan football expert Roberto Rojas.

It would be bold for many associated with Wolves to claim they are clued up on 2023 summer signing Enso Gonzalez, who signed from Paraguayan outfit Libertad last year.

Since his arrival, the 19-year-old has continued his development with the Old Gold’s U21 side, with little sign that the teen is near to competing in the first team as he continues to adapt.

Moving across the world to play an entirely different level and style of football would be difficult for any player, particularly one at the start of his career.

Speaking to Molineux News, Paraguayan football expert Roberto Rojas backed the idea of a loan move to be a good step for Gonzalez to take in the bid to make it under Gary O’Neil

Described as being an “unpredictable” asset in the wide areas by Rojas, the ESPN journalist touched upon the positives of Gonzalez having the room to develop at Wolves.

“I think what Wolves are great at doing is nurturing young players so I’m not going to end his chances of playing first-team football because he hasn’t been a world beater for Wolves as of yet, but at the same time, I think it would be great for him to play somewhere else to at least get an idea of what it’s like in English football.”

Having made appearances in the U21 side, the nimble wide player has taken the route of many before him at Wolves in being a player who needs time and patience to flourish in his new surroundings.

Prior to signing for the Premier League side, the teenager was excelling in the first team at Libertad, yet his Paraguayan experience is somewhat incomparable to the competitive and physical edge traceable in a top-flight English academy.

For this reason, Rojas advised Wolves to use their Portuguese connections to source a temporary home for Gonzalez to develop at senior level.

“Perhaps one of the clubs like Famalicão in Portugal, where Wolves tend to do business, or somewhere in the EFL Championship would do great for him if needed. That would of course, be a last resort thing if he doesn’t hit it off at Wolves for the time being.”

Over the years, Wolves have had a close relationship with Portuguese clubs and personnel encouraged by Jorge Mendes’ input, a feat that could be used once more for Gonzalez.

What the future could hold for Enso Gonzalez at Wolves

Despite struggling to make a significant impact at the club since his arrival, Rojas was full of praise for Gonzalez, who he believes could follow his countrymen Julio Enciso and Miguel Almiron to become the next Paraguayan to excel in the Premier League.

When asked if he could see the teenager following the Brighton and Newcastle stars, Rojas said:

“I don’t see why not. He’s already reached England in less time at a younger age than a lot of his predecessors so it could be possible. He has the potential to become a good player.”

Only time will tell what Wolves have in store for Gonzalez, who is a raw talent with a high ceiling that could be uncovered over the next few years with the help of loan spells, like many before him at Molineux.
