It’s the start of a new era for Wolves, with Gary O’Neil having officially been named the new head coach at Molineux.
The 40-year-old has replaced Julen Lopetegui at the helm, following a turbulent past few weeks at the club.
Lopetegui had been unhappy at the club pretty much since the end of last season.
The club’s financial troubles were the main source of his frustration, as he wanted to strengthen significantly.
He was apparently told he could make additions, but Wolves then said that wouldn’t be possible, which frustrated the 56-year-old.
He went away to consider his future, but came back seemingly ready to crack on.
A couple of weeks ago though, Lopetegui did an interview with journalist Guillem Balague in which he expressed his frustration again.
That was the beginning of the end for him at Wolves.
It’s now time for O’Neil to show what he can do – and sporting director Matt Hobbs has been speaking about what sets him apart.
Matt Hobbs talks up Gary O’Neil’s man management skills
Wolves today announced O’Neil on a three-year deal.

And sporting director Hobbs has shared some of the reasons why the club have turned to him.
And he seemingly does have one particularly good trait.
He told the club’s official website: “Everything’s been positive. Everyone talks about his man management skills, bringing everything together and his support staff have worked on that too.
“He’s good in youth development and has Premier League experience.”
O’Neil’s man management skills will be required from the off
The Wolves dressing room may be in a state of shock at the moment.
Lopetegui’s exit has happened very quickly, even though it looks as though some groundwork had been laid.
Some players will be feeling confused and perhaps despondent about the Spaniard’s exit.
Many really liked and respected him.

So it’s now on O’Neil to try and get the dressing room in order.
The 40-year-old must tell them all that he believes in them, and gain their respect.
It’s vitally important that he has everyone buying into him, and that no one goes into the new season hung up about Lopetegui.
It’s a terrible situation, but Wolves must now push forwards together as one.
