The African Cup of Nations, commonly known as AFCON, is set to take place over December and January this season, and there have been a few players to don the Old Gold that won the tournament.
The tournament can be challenging for any team, as it takes place midway through the season, which means clubs have to let some of their stars represent their nation while domestic matches are still taking place.
The Wanderers have quite a few players heading out this winter, but there is no doubt Vitor Pereira will find a way to cope because he must do so.
Here is every player who has won AFCON and also represented Wolves during their career.

Former Wolves players who have won AFCON
There are only three players who have played for Wolves and also won the AFCON throughout their careers.
Mark Williams – 1996
Interestingly, Mark Williams is the only player on the list to win AFCON while still playing for Wolves.
The South African forward played for Wolves during the 1995/1996 season but only managed to make eight appearances and play 491 minutes.
He scored just two goals for the Old Gold.
Williams’ time with his nation was much more fruitful, as during that season South Africa won AFCON. The Wolves striker played a key role in the tournament, scoring four goals and being the top scorer in the competition.

Adlene Guedioura – 2019
Adlene Guedioura joined Wolves in January 2010, but it was years after that when he won AFCON.
The Algerian spent just two years in the Old Gold, playing 39 games, scoring three times, and assisting five goals.
Guedioura would later go on to play for a host of other English clubs, but his career high would be winning AFCON in 2019 with Algeria.
The midfielder was a key player for his nation, playing the full 90 minutes in the final and helping Algeria win only their second AFCON title.
Willy Boly – 2023
Willy Boly spent many years at Molineux, and the centre-back made 147 appearances for the club.
This makes him the most notable former Wanderer to lift Africa’s biggest trophy. During his days in the Old Gold, he missed the 2021 edition of the tournament through injury, but he would later get his chance again.
When Boly won the tournament in 2023, he was no longer in Wolverhampton but instead plying his trade for Nottingham Forest.
The defender started just three games for Ivory Coast and was not in the squad for the final due to injury. Either way, the Elephants got the job done.
