European club ‘extremely happy’ that transfer for Wolves player broke down in the summer

Wolves had quite a few outgoings over the summer with many key players leaving, but one failed move seems to be a positive for a European club.

Matheus Cunha made his way to Manchester United after they activated his £62.5 million release clause, and Rayan Ait Nouri followed him to Manchester, but the Algerian joined the blue side instead.

Nelson Semedo was another who left, having rejected a new contract to stay at Molineux.

Meanwhile, Fabio Silva was also the subject of interest from numerous clubs before joining Borussia Dortmund.

Silva is the man in question for this latest report, and one club has been left delighted they never signed him.

RB Leipzig looked to be a possible location for Fabio Silva during the summer before he made the move to fellow Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.

However, a new report from Germany reveals the Red Bull-owned club actually let the Black and Yellows take the Wolves player.

BILD say that despite Leipzig and Silva having ‘already agreed on a five-year contract’, they decided to ‘bet everything on their desired striker (Romulo), distanced themselves from Silva, and thus indirectly handed him over to Dortmund.’

The information also says that ‘Internally, it’s said that the Leipzig bosses are extremely happy with their selection. Romulo is a regular starter and has been involved in three goals (two goals) in his first five Bundesliga games.’

While Romulo has been a hit signing in the Bundesliga, the same cannot be said for Fabio Silva yet.

Fabio Silva has played just six minutes for Borussia Dortmund

It is no wonder that RB Leipzig are happy with their decision to go with Romulo over Fabio Silva.

The Portuguese striker has played just six minutes for Borussia Dortmund so far due to Silva signing for Dortmund while injured. He only made his debut at the end of September.

The former Wolves forward recently had surgery on an adductor injury, unbeknownst to the German club, and it was only found during his medical.

He has not had the best of starts to life in Germany, and displacing Serhou Guirassy will be an incredibly difficult feat.

Wolves have no regrets over signing Fabio Silva, but the forward may quickly have doubts over his latest move.
