Wolves fans are hoping to see a much more solid second half of the season.
Under Gary O’Neil, far too many goals were conceded, with Wolves all at sea at the back in most games.
It has been clear that Wolves needed to sign a new central defender, and it took the club nine days to do that, with Emmanuel Agbadou coming in from Reims.
Agbadou signed for Wolves last week and just days later, he made his debut against Bristol City.
It was not an outstanding performance from Agbadou, but definitely a solid enough one playing on the left of a back three.
Fans like the look of him, and feel he will have a good impact on the backline.
And Pereira already seems to be impressed with Wolves’ newest recruit.
Pereira likes Agbadou’s ‘quality with the ball’

One of the biggest things for Agbadou will be to provide a bit more steel in defence.
Wolves have conceded 45 goals in just 20 Premier League games so far which is extremely concerning, and the rate of conceding will need to decrease moving forward if Wolves are to be OK coming the end of the season.
Against Bristol City, Agbadou looked fairly solid – but it was another part of his game that Pereira complimented afterwards.
Agbadou said (via E&S): “I’m excited, but I need to adapt myself fast.
“If I want to help the team, I need to improve quickly.
“He (Pereira) told me he needs me because I’m fast and in England you need to deal with balls behind the defence.
“He likes my quality with the ball also and I came here to be a good defender for the team.”
Pereira was left impressed by Agbadou on his Wolves debut, praising the player’s consistency.
Agbadou was good on the ball vs Bristol City
It was good to see Pereira not hesitating to throw Agbadou straight in against Bristol City on Saturday, as it was a nice fixture for the new signing to make his debut in, ahead of facing Newcastle United on Wednesday.
Agbadou gave a good account of himself at Ashton Gate.
While he can play on the left side, it’s not his preferred position, but he still did well.
As per Sofascore data, he completed 63/74 (85%) passes, and actually had the most touches of any Wolves player in the game with 87 – indicating that his new teammates already trust him on the ball.
He did give it away a few times and maybe took a bit too long to play his pass on occasion. But you get the sense that Agbadou will be well-suited to the English game.
