Emmanuel Agbadou responds to Wolves fans after special gesture to new signing in Premier League debut

Emmanuel Agbadou became Vitor Pereira’s first signing as Wolves manager early in the January transfer window, putting pen to paper on a four-and-a-half year deal with the club.

The acquisition of Agbadou from Stade Reims for a reported €20m fee was an extremely necessary one, with the club in dire need of defensive reinforcements this winter after shipping an embarrassing number of goals during the first half of the 2024/25 season.

The towering centre-back made his debut for the club in a 2-1 FA Cup third round win over Bristol City, before enduring a bit of a baptism of fire in the Premier League in midweek against Newcastle United. Despite his best efforts – which included a stunning last-ditch block to deny Anthony Gordon what looked like a certain goal early in the first half – Agbadou couldn’t prevent the Old Gold from conceding three at St. James’ Park.

Although he’s so far struggled to turn around Wolves’ defensive fortunes early in his Molineux career, Agbadou has managed to endear himself to fans by putting in two battling performances for his new club.

The defender has endeared himself to the Wolves faithful so much, in fact, that they already have a chant for him – singing his name to the tune of ‘Agadoo’ by Black Lace.

Speaking to the club’s official website ahead of Wolves’ crucial Premier League clash with Chelsea on Monday evening, Agbadou was keen to thank fans for singing his name so early in his Wolves career:

“It’s good to know that you have your own song,” said the defender. “I’ve not been here for many years, just a few weeks, so I appreciate it.

“I hope I can give my all for the supporters, for the team, and I will do the same against every team this season.”

Wolves remain keen to sign a second centre-back after Agbadou transfer

Having gotten a deal for Agbadou over the line, sources have confirmed to Molineux News that Wolves are keen to sign a second centre-back during the current January transfer window.

Brighton’s Adam Webster is a player that the club are currently tracking, however we understand that the Old Gold are in no rush to get a deal over the line and are willing to wait until later in the window to sign another defender.

Wolves have been busy strengthening elsewhere in the meantime, with a deal for Portuguese midfielder Manu Silva reportedly set to be confirmed soon.
