Emmanuel Agbadou admits he’s ‘angry’ with Ipswich Town for what they’ve just done

Emmanuel Agbadou is relishing the chance to shine against Ipswich Town later this weekend. The Wolves defender believes Saturday’s matchup at Portman Road will feel like a derby.

Wolves are nine points clear of the drop zone but Vitor Pereira will still want to guard against complacency.

Saturday’s matchup is hugely important in the race for survival and Agbadou can’t wait to inflict even more misery on Kieran McKenna’s side.

The reverse fixture of this tie saw a feisty encounter. Matheus Cunha was suspended after he clashed with members of Ipswich’s staff after the final whistle.

Cunha is suspended again after being shown a straight red card against Bournemouth last month, but it isn’t just the South American’s absence that will make Saturday’s matchup tough for Wolves.

Ipswich’s surprise 2-1 win over Bournemouth earlier in the week not only kept their survival hopes alive, but the result angered Agbadou, who is expecting this weekend’s game to feel like a derby.

“On Wednesday I was following the results of Ipswich and I was getting angry, but it is football and we need to win the next game against them on Saturday,” he told the official Wolves website.

“[…] We will prepare like every game. Every game here in England is so important. Even against Ipswich, it will feel like a derby because of the position that we both have now, we are so close to them.

“But we are focused on our side and what we can do, and I think is more important. Everyone in the group is so calm and excited to play this game and show that we deserve to stay in this league if we win.”

Fighting talk from Wolves’ number 12.

Win and survival is as good as done

Although a win over Ipswich won’t guarantee Wolves safety, leaving Suffolk with all three points will all but end any chance the bottom three have of climbing out of the drop.

It hasn’t been the season the Old Gold were hoping for but Pereira’s arrival at the expense of Gary O’Neil has proven to be a good decision.

Wolves must ensure they remain a Premier League team next season before turning their attention to the summer transfer window.

After proving in January that he can make the right signings, Fosun would be wise to back Pereira ahead of an inevitable end-of-season rebuild.
