Former Wolves midfielder David Edwards says Ruben Neves has been the club’s player of the season so far.
Sky Sports pundit Edwards told the Express and Star that Neves ‘eclipsed’ highly-rated England midfielder Declan Rice on Saturday.
Neves impressed Edwards once again in that 1-0 win over West Ham and there was special mention for Max Kilman too.

“Ruben Neves has been Wolves’ best player this year. He’s been the most consistent,” he said. “Every time I watch him he dictates how Wolves play.
“Max Kilman has been excellent and comes close, but Neves is maturing into a wonderful all-round midfielder. His passing range is absolutely phenomenal. It’s not safe passes either.
“His passing range matched with his decision making, and what type of pass to hit and when to hit it, is one of the best in the Premier League. He’s one of the best all-round midfielders in the league at the moment.
“The biggest problem for Wolves is that they’ll be plenty of suitors for him, but I’m sure he wants to be at Wolves with the ambition they have. They’re heading in a great direction.”
Perhaps we have become so used to Neves being excellent that he sometimes goes under the radar.
As Edwards says, he has adjusted to Bruno Lage’s demands by becoming more physical and powerful, while maintaining that quality on the ball.
It was huge for Wolves that he stayed during the summer and with the club now in the top six, it is to be hoped that he is not looking elsewhere any time soon.
