Former Wolves midfielder turned Sky Sports pundit David Edwards has had his say on Raul Jimenez’s red card against Manchester City.
In the Express and Star, Edwards said that Jimenez has to take some of the blame for his silly second yellow card, but criticised the decision to book him for his challenge on Rodri just before that.
That echoed Bruno Lage’s view on the situation; Jimenez can have no complaints about the second yellow but the first was frustrating.

“The first booking for Raul was crazy. It’s arguably not even a foul,” wrote Edwards.
“But after that it is very petulant from Raul and Lage will not be happy with what happened, because he’s cost his team getting at least a point by being a bit immature, blocking the free-kick.
“You know you’re going to get a booking from that, it was a really silly mistake to make and cost his team, although it was poor from Jon Moss initially.
It did swing on the red card for Raul Jimenez, though, and [he] has to shoulder some blame. As soon as Raul is sent off that’s the game plan gone. When City are pushing late on that’s when you want Raul and Adama Traore on the pitch to get that one chance on the break.”

Jimenez was a big miss against City and he will be an even bigger miss against Brighton as Wolves try and improve a record of one goal in six matches.
Fabio Silva may need to step up, although Hwang Hee-Chan is also capable of leading the line.
Edwards is right that it was a soft first booking, but when that happened, Jimenez should have just retreated and regrouped.
