Diego Costa hard at work in the gym as Wolves striker bids to improve fitness

The World Cup has commenced, and club football has suspended – but Diego Costa has been hard at work back at Wolves.

Julen Lopetegui has given his players some time off following the last game against Arsenal.

The plan is to head out to Marbella soon, and get everybody into shape and prepared for the return of club football at Christmas.

The Wolves players have a lot of improvements to make after a really poor start to the season.

The team sit bottom of the Premier League table, having won just two games and scored eight goals.

There have been a number of players performing well below the expected level, and Lopetegui is tasked with getting a tune out of them.

Fans are optimistic that his pedigree and reputation for being a popular figure with his players can help turn things around.

It appears one man is looking to get ahead of the curve at Wolves.

Costa last night posted to his Instagram Story of him in a gym. He can be seen on a mat with a medicine ball and an ab roller.

The 34-year-old is in serious shape, and Wolves fans will be encouraged given his struggles so far in a Wolves shirt.

Costa has yet to score for Wanderers, having signed for the club back in September as a free agent.

He’s made six appearances so far, and it’s been clear he is not the same player as the last time he was on English shores.

That said, his link-up play has been quite good at times.

It is very encouraging to see Costa already doing gym work, despite club football having only just suspended.

Seemingly he is ready to get himself into the best possible position to make his move to Molineux a success.

The red card he picked up recently was something that frustrated fans, and Costa will be wanting to make amends for it.

It is great to see him taking steps to better himself. He looks in fantastic shape and hopefully he can hit the ground running for Wolves after the World Cup.
