Daniel Podence wowed at the weekend by scoring a fantastic goal out on loan for Olympiacos – and a couple of his former Wolves teammates were left impressed.
Podence is on a season-long loan with the Greek giants, after he was deemed surplus to requirements by Gary O’Neil.
Podence was someone the club were looking to offload permanently in the last window but ultimately, suitable offers were not really forthcoming.
Matt Hobbs said at the time: “It’s no secret that Daniel was keen to look at new options this summer, but nothing came which suited us or Daniel, but this is an opportunity for him to go back where he was and play European football, and he was great in understanding that for us to allow it, he had to sign a contract.”
Wolves moved to protect the player’s value with the extension he signed just before leaving.
Podence has made 28 appearances for Olympiacos so far, and he really dazzled on Sunday against PAOK…
Daniel Podence scores rocket in 4-1 win over PAOK, leaving Diego Costa and Matheus Nunes impressed

Of late, Podence hasn’t quite been as prominent for Olympiacos as earlier in the season.
He was on the bench for three league games in a row before the last two, but Podence scored against Crete FC recently, and then on Sunday he scored a stunning goal against PAOK.
Podence picked the ball up around on the left wing and proceeded to cut inside. Around 25 yards from goal, he unleashed a powerful drive into the far top corner.
It was a shot with real venom, giving goalkeeper Dominik Kotarski absolutely no chance. The goal can be seen on PAOK’s official YouTube channel at 3:20.
Podence also grabbed an assist in the 4-1 win, setting up the third goal with a left-footed cross for Eyoub El Kaabi to score his first of two.
Podence was also involved in the third goal, with his pass unlocking the PAOK defence.

It was a top performance from the Wolves man, who received some comments from old Molinuex teammates on his latest social media post.
Diego Costa left three flame emojis and Nelson Semedo also commented ‘machine bro’. There was also a show of appreciation from Matheus Nunes.
Podence having a good spell in Greece
According to Gate7International on X, Podence was the ‘near unanimous Man of the Match’ against PAOK and they provide highlights of his great performance.
So far, it has been a pretty good spell for Podence back at his former club.
Across his 28 appearances, he has now scored 10 goals and also provided four assists, meaning a goal involvement every other game for the 28-year-old.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Podence, with O’Neil refusing to completely shut the door on a return to Wolves for the player.
If he is to move on permanently this summer, then there should be a reasonable chance of Wanderers selling him for a decent price.
