With Nelson Semedo’s exit, Wolves had to sign a new right-back in the summer, and it appears they had plenty on the shortlist.
The club eventually landed on a deal for Jackson Tchatchoua, signing him for £10.8 million from Hellas Verona.
Before Tchatchoua, Wolves did prioritise a move for Anan Khalaili; however, the finances involved meant the Old Gold pulled themselves out of that conversation.
Now, it has been revealed that the Wanderers sent another bid for a different right-back in the window, and that man is Rayo Vallecano’s Andrei Ratiu.
Wolves had a £15.6 million bid rejection for Andrei Ratiu

Andrei Ratiu had a great season in La Liga last year as he helped Rayo Vallecano to their highest top-flight finish in 12 years.
The Romanian defender’s performances caught the interest of multiple clubs, according to Mundo Deportivo.
Among those clubs from Germany, Spain and England was Wolves.
The Spanish outlet only mentions the Wanderers specifically and has revealed that they had sent an €18 million (£15.6 million) bid for the full-back.
However, the La Liga side were holding out for his €25 million (£21.7 million) release clause and rejected all offers below their valuation.
The Old Gold, just like with Khalaili, were put off by the price and ultimately moved on to Tchatchoua.
Andrei Ratiu was unsettled by Wolves’ bid
Andrei Ratiu appeared to be tempted by a switch to the Premier League, as the report also mentions that the bid sent by Wolves unsettled the player.
Mundo Deportivo says the speculation “ended up affecting Ratiu’s performance, which has fallen far short of his best at the start of the season.”
However, they also note that he appears to be returning to his best now.
The Molineux club are unlikely to go back in for him considering their depth of options at right-back and wing-back at the moment.
However, if Matt Doherty is not offered a new contract, with his current deal expiring at the end of the season, it could be one to keep an eye on.
A new deal for Doherty is one of the things Fosun must decide on quickly over the coming weeks.
