Dean Saunders makes unthinkable Wolves prediction that people will call him an ‘idiot’ for

Dean Saunders is not remembered too fondly for his time as Wolves manager, but his prediction for the club has some rare optimism.

Despite some promising performances throughout December against Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United, the Old Gold have just one point to their name over those games.

They have found it tough to get a win this season, and at the halfway point of the campaign, that still eludes them.

Rob Edwards will be hoping to finally pick up three points vs West Ham, and the odds are better than usual for Wolves.

And if they can finally end their duck, Dean Saunders believes one thing can actually happen for the Wanderers, and many will not agree.

Dean Saunders believes Wolves can go on a run of wins

There has been an air of optimism surrounding Wolves over the last few weeks due to the performances on the pitch.

Three points from 19 games has not been good enough, but in truth, the Wanderers have performed much better than their points tally suggests.

Rob Edwards has come in to try and pull off one of the hardest great escapes ever seen in the Premier League, and it has not exactly gone to plan either.

The head coach has just one point from eight matches, but former Wolves manager Dean Saunders believes that could change quickly.

Saunders said (via talkSPORT), “If Wolves won one game, it would not surprise me if they went and won three games on the bounce.

“Everybody who has watched Wolves this season will go ‘you idiot’. If you win three games on the bounce, and you put nine points on your total, you are still adrift. But the manager will be talking like this to them: ‘If we win one, we can go on a bit of a run,’ and you can’t let them give up.”

Three wins in a row is not out of the question for Wolves

Three wins is not entirely out of the question for Wolves looking at the fixtures.

West Ham are the “easiest” out of the next three games, but every game in the Premier League is not easy for a side rooted to 20th place.

Wolves do already have a win over the Hammers this season, beating them 3-2 in the Carabao Cup.

Additionally, Wolves have also beaten Everton in that same competition ‘but they have also lost to them in the Premier League this campaign.

Meanwhile, Wolves put on a good performance against Newcastle earlier in the season but narrowly missed out in a 1-0 loss at St James’ Park.

While the Wanderers are yet to win this season in the league, there are certainly reasons to believe wins can come in January.

And with the right arrivals in the transfer window, they could at least provide a better second half of the season.
