David Ornstein shares if Wolves will appoint new manager this week, as Erik ten Hag claim made

David Ornstein has shared an update on Wolves’ hunt for a new manager, including the chances of an appointment this week, as well as a claim about Erik ten Hag.

Vitor Pereira was sacked on Sunday, and ever since the rumour mill has been spinning.

Reports have Gary O’Neil as the leading candidate to return to the club, and Molineux News understands talks between Wolves and O’Neil have been positive.

Fans are not happy with the possibility of the Englishman returning, but whether the club will make a hasty appointment remains to be seen.

However, the ever-reliable Ornstein has shared the likelihood of that happening this week.

David Ornstein on if Wolves are expected to make decision this week

Wolves face Chelsea on Saturday evening in what could be the first game for the Old Gold’s next manager.

However, there is a chance that a caretaker is in charge.

Wolves are seemingly not in a rush to make a decision, even if O’Neil is leading the way in discussions, based on the latest report by David Ornstein.

The journalist says, “Wolves are exploring a reunion with O’Neil, 42, in parallel to other options, with no decision on Vitor Pereira’s successor expected this week.”

Things in football do change quickly, so there may very well be a new permanent face in charge of the squad this weekend depsite the current expectation.

However, it could also be smart for the board to avoid giving a new hire a difficult game such as Chelsea away from home.

While Crystal Palace are a team in good form this season, it is much more favourable to play them at Molineux than the Blues at Stamford Bridge.

Erik ten Hag discussed internally at Wolves

In addition to the update on the process to hire a new manager, Ornstein also dropped the name of another candidate into the hat.

Former Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has reportedly been among the names discussed by the Wolves hierarchy.

Ornstein wrote, “Ten Hag is also a free agent, having been sacked by Bayer Leverkusen in September after just three games in charge. The Dutchman has been discussed internally by Wolves.”

The Dutchman does have experience in the Premier League, having taken the Red Devils to a third-place finish in his first season in charge.

His time did not end well despite winning two trophies in two full seasons. However, he would probably be met with a better reception than Gary O’Neil by fans.

If Wolves are looking at free agents, there are four other managers without a job who are worth looking at.
