Dave Edwards wants Raul Jimenez to start against Chelsea

Former Wolves midfielder Dave Edwards is keen to see Raul Jimenez start for Wolves against Chelsea on Saturday.

Wanderers are seeking to get back on track after a tricky past few games.

Wolves have won just one of their last seven Premier League games, which has seen the club slip closer to the relegation zone.

Wolves are now just one point above the drop, so a win against Chelsea would be most ideal.

The Blues have just announced Frank Lampard as their new interim manager.

He has come in after Graham Potter was sacked after the 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa.

Wolves have struggled this season in the final third and no one has really stood out as a player who should be starting every single game.

Against Chelsea, it is impossible to predict who Lopetegui will deploy in attack.

But Edwards would like to see Jimenez come back in to start. He was left on the bench against Nottingham Forest, with Diego Costa coming on in the second-half.

Costa actually did fairly well, but Edwards said (Wolves Weekly podcast): “I’d start Raul, I would. His energy, especially more on the counter attack and being able to get forward a little bit.”

Raul Jimenez and Matheus Cunha should both start against Chelsea

Jimenez should probably start for Wolves against Chelsea. Although, Lopetegui could be tempted to play Diego Costa against his former club.

In recent weeks Jimenez has looked quite good for Wolves.

The £30 million star‘s performance against Tottenham Hotspur was highly encouraging.

But he has also lacked a bit of support, and so maybe it is finally time for Matheus Cunha to feature with him.

Many would like to see this particular partnership. Having more bodies in the box feels like the way to go.
