Wolves were unfortunate to come away from Anfield with nothing to show for their battling display, and supporters will have been disappointed to see further bad news emerge.
Wolves were beaten 2-1 by Liverpool on Sunday afternoon but the second-half performance from Vitor Pereira’s men will have sparked hopes of surviving in the Premier League.
Matheus Cunha’s wonderful strike came after a crucial half-time team talk stunned the Wolves squad into action, and the Old Gold dominated the second half.
Marshall Munetsi had a huge chance to score on his debut in England’s top flight while several of his other Wolves teammates impressed, including Brazilian talent Andre.
But whilst there were plenty of positives to take back to Molineux, one injury has dealt Pereira a damaging blow in the battle for survival.

Dave Edwards thinks Emmanuel Agbadou’s injury is a ‘big blow’
Emmanuel Agbadou continued in his centre-back role alongside Matt Doherty and Toti Gomes at Anfield, with the 27-year-old experiencing his toughest game in a Wolves shirt.
The Ivorian was coming up against some world-class attackers and had his work cut out dealing with the unstoppable Mohamed Salah.
Wolves new signing has impressed since arriving in January but supporters would have feared the worst as Pereira confirmed Agbadou suffered a muscle injury against Liverpool, seeing him replaced at half-time for Santiago Bueno.
Speaking about the Ivory Coast international in his E&S column, Dave Edwards thinks losing their influential defender is undoubtedly a ‘big blow’.
“The big blow, however, was Agbadou’s injury,” Edwards wrote. ‘He’s been fantastic since he’s come to the football club but looked a little on edge at Anfield, making a few errors.
“It looks like it might be a hamstring injury and he will be a huge miss with two huge Premier League games coming up.”
Agbadou’s incredible defensive statistics
Agbadou has been a game-changing signing for Wolves, slotting into Pereira’s defence like a glove and becoming one of his most important players.
Wolves crowned Agbadou with the Player of the Month Award for January, which demonstrates the huge impact he’s had on the squad.
Indeed, missing him for the upcoming fixtures could be detrimental to their hopes of surviving, with Wolves playing Bournemouth, Fulham and Everton in their next three.

- 2.8 tackles per game
- 5.6 balls recovered per game
- 5 clearances per game
- 1.2 interceptions per game
- 6.2 duels won per game (74%)

Evidently, he’s helped transform his new club into a solid side defensively and many will now be hoping his injury isn’t severe.
