Dave Edwards thinks there is a ‘revelation’ in Wolves’ team right now

Wolves are looking to navigate away from the relegation zone in the second half of the season after a troubling first five months of the campaign.

Wolves currently sit just outside the drop zone, having climbed out with a win against Aston Villa last weekend.

That win was huge for Vitor Pereira, and the club followed it up with two new signings on transfer deadline day in the form of Nasser Djiga and Marshall Munetsi.

They were the second and third signings of the winter window, with the first being Emmanuel Agbadou.

Agbadou arrived from Reims for just over £16 million earlier in the window, and has made five appearances for the club so far.

And it’s gone well for him up to now, with Agbadou being named Wolves Player of the Month for January.

One man who’s been blown away by the Ivorian is Dave Edwards.

Agbadou has got Wolves fans excited with the way he’s started his Molineux career.

The star has mainly operated on the left of the back three so far, but against Villa he was central.

He’s very much impressed, with fans acknowledging his ability as an out-and-out defender, and his mobility and physicality.

Dave Edwards has also praised Agbadou on the Wolves official podcast, describing him as a ‘revelation’.

He said: “Agbadou’s been a revelation. I think he’s been unbelievable, probably our best player in the last two games in particular.

“He gives everyone else that huge confidence. Having someone like him, it takes the pressure off. If I’m a midfielder in front of him, I’m not worried about a ball going over the top.

“Matt Doherty will love having him on the inside of him because Matt’s probably not the quickest anymore. So if he does get in a little bit of trouble, he knows Agbadou has got the athleticism to get across. Fantastic.”

Agbadou could make Craig Dawson-like impact for Wolves in relegation fight

Despite there still only being a small sample size, Agbadou looks like a brilliant signing for Wolves.

It’s been a real struggle at the back this season, but Wolves have made a signing here that has the potential to be a game-changer.

Two years ago, Wolves were in a similar position to what they are now.

The club were facing a relegation battle and had just brought in Julen Lopetegui to turn things around.

He signed Craig Dawson in the January 2023 window, and the Englishman played a huge role in helping Wolves achieve safety.

He brought calm and authority to a jittery backline, and Agbadou feels like he could have a similar kind of impact.
