It’s been a long season, but Wolves thankfully now appear to be safe from danger.
Wolves have been under threat of relegation for a while, but Saturday’s 2-1 win over Ipswich Town saw them move 12 points clear of the drop zone.
It was a huge win, and realistically the battle is now over.
Vitor Pereira has done a brilliant job, and has managed to get a tune out of the players where Gary O’Neil could not.
The improvements are there for all to see, and fans are excited about this manager and where he could take the club.
And seemingly, there is a strong belief from the payers in him, with Joao Gomes signing a new Wolves contract last week.
That was huge news for Wolves, and Dave Edwards has made a big claim about the Brazilian.
Dave Edwards suggests Joao Gomes is turning into Wolves’ new Ruben Neves

Joao Gomes is a hugely popular figure at Molineux.
He was popular from the very start, when he forced a transfer to the club from Flamengo after Lyon tried to hijack him.
Gomes always gives his all in a Wolves shirt, and the star is adored for it.
For Dave Edwards, he is actually now creeping towards Ruben Neves territory.
He said in the E&S: “He’s a lot better on the ball now, handles the ball well and he’s attacking a lot better.
“He has more confidence knowing that he’s got his Brazilian partner Andre next to him to steady the ship.
“He’s going from strength to strength and is a cult hero already. He’s starting to move into Ruben Neves territory in terms of the relationship he’s got with the fans and how much the fans love him.”
Gomes will leave Wolves with similar reputation to Neves
Gomes signing a new deal was hugely significant.
The star is one of Wolves’ best players, and the extension almost certainly means he won’t be going anywhere this summer, despite the interest of a lot of clubs. Indeed, Molineux News has been told Gomes should stay for at least a year at Wolves as a result of the new deal.
Given how Gomes plays, and also how he operates off the pitch as well, there is real potential here for him to achieve the same hero status at Wolves as Neves did.
Eventually the time will come for Gomes to leave Molineux, although hopefully it won’t be for another few years.
But when that time does come, one suspects there will be just as much emotion as when Ruben Neves departed in 2023.
He is so easy to root for, and the club is lucky to have him.
