Dave Edwards says one Wolves player has been a ‘revelation’ and will now play every week

It has been an awful start to the new season for Wolves, but Dave Edwards has insisted there is a ‘revelation’ in Vitor Pereira’s squad.

Fans did not expect too much at the start of the 2025/26 campaign after the release of the fixtures and also seeing how the summer was going.

But certainly, many would have hoped for more than just one point after the first six games.

Wolves’ fixture list does relent slightly in the next few weeks.

But there are never any ‘easy’ games in the Premier League and Vitor Pereira has his work cut out to drag this team away from danger.

But Pereira is confident he can turn things around at Wolves, now that he’s had some more time to work with his squad.

There have been improvements in the last couple of games, and one man who has thoroughly impressed is Ladislav Krejci.

Krejci was Wolves’ penultimate signing of the summer transfer window, arriving from Girona on an initial loan basis.

Wolves have paid £6 million for that loan, and will buy the star permanently next year for another £20 million on top of that.

It was a signing that some did question, feeling it wasn’t entirely necessary.

But he has looked absolutely superb across his first four appearances for the club, and there is an argument that Krejci deserves to win Wolves’ September Player of the Month award.

For Dave Edwards, he has been a ‘revelation’ for Wolves and will play every week.

He said on The Official Wolves Podcast: “We were really excited about Krejci coming to the club, what he offers on the ball. We said he looked a bit like Romain Saiss in the way he plays. In midfield, in defence, the left foot comparison.

“I’ve been blown away by him, I think he’s been a revelation. I think what he’s added to the team has been really, really positive.

“You look at his goal against Leeds, it was fantastic. He started that attack for that goal where he hit a huge diagonal across the pitch where most other players would play it five or 10 yards. He’s a progressive passer.

“Every performance he’s got better and stronger. Dropping into defence, I think he gives us another dynamic of the way we play.

“Brilliant on the ball, and then defensively I think he’s aggressive and strong. The Everton game, poor young Thierno Barry.

“I don’t want to big him up too much, but really exciting addition to the squad and he’ll play every week, it just depends where.”

Krejci will be a prominent figure for Wolves in 2025/26

Edwards is right – Krejci now stands to play every week for Wolves. Or most weeks at least.

He has been very impressive so far, bringing composure and solidity to Wolves’ starting XI.

His versatility is also extremely handy. Wolves obviously missed out on signing a new midfielder at the end of the transfer window, but Krejci may well end up being the solution all along.

Either way, he is going to be a key player for Wolves in their fight to stay in the Premier League this season
